Switch : Shift : Thrive

Are you suffering from digestive discomfort, bloating or hormone imbalances, low mood, anxiety or skin conditions and are confused by all the conflicting information out there?

Do you feel burdened with a chronic health condition or auto-immune disease and find it difficult to manage?

Are you lacking in energy and motivation, pushing on through with caffeine and snacks, but still have nothing left for the fun stuff?

Have you had tests which have come back ‘normal’, but you still have symptoms and know you could feel better?

Imagine if:

You felt comfortable in your clothes, you felt happier,

could go out for meals with your friends, give that presentation at work,

had the energy and motivation for the fun stuff, because your symptoms have reduced and become manageable.

Imagine feeling confident your food and lifestyle choices were working for you, rather than against you.

I am a qualified nutritional therapist and I’m passionate about healthy nutrition. I work with clients to bring about positive changes to their health and quality of life, enhancing or improving their food and lifestyle choices, tailored to their individual needs.

Face-to-face or online Zoom consultations available to suit you. Face-to-face appointments are available at either Attend2Health, Buntingford or Royston Complementary Health Centre & Studio.

Book in for a no obligation 20 minute chat to discuss your health goals.

How an appointment works:

Before a consultation: You will be sent test kits and instructions if ordered. This needs to be done as soon as possible. You will be asked to complete a detailed questionnaire which will include your health concerns and goals, your family history, lifestyle, any current medical diagnoses and medications and supplements you are taking. A three-day food diary will also need to be completed. This will give me a picture of your general health and any health goals you are seeking help for.

During the consultation: I will ask you to go into more details of your main health concerns and symptoms. I will look at any underlying imbalances and discuss diagnostic testing requirements. Together we will then come up with a plan for diet and lifestyle changes achievable for you to move forward. Supplements may be recommended if needed.

Follow-up appointments let me to see how you are progressing, allow you to ask questions and to review your Health Plan.

About Suzy

I am a registered Nutritional Therapy practitioner, working from my Hertfordshire practice, using the Functional Medicine approach to Lifestyle Medicine which I studied at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London.

I don’t just look at your symptoms, but look for the root cause of your health problems through personalised assessment and analysis. Nutritional therapy uses current scientific evidence-based research to promote and support optimal health, and address an individual’s biochemical and nutritional imbalances which may be contributing to symptoms and health issues.

I love to talk food and take a food first approach to help you find good health through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

Functional tests available include blood, stool, urine and genetics with analysis for nutritional deficiencies.

Nutritional therapy is a complementary therapy, not an alternative to conventional medical advice. A practitioner will work alongside a client’s medical professionals to ensure safe practice and to meet the client’s specific needs.

FAQs:

  1. Why a 12 week programme? A 12 week timeframe allows for comprehensive exploration of your health issues. The time is needed to create lasting habits and experience changes.

  2. Will it be difficult? I work with you to make simple, manageable changes. It will take commitment from you, but you will have my support to help you on the way.

  3. I’m really busy. How much time will it require? I hear you! I’ve designed this programme for people just like you, there’s no complicated cooking (unless that’s your thing). I would recommend setting aside a couple of hours a week for meal prep and time in the supermarket to get to know what’s new to you on the shelves, but we can discuss this. I want it to work for you!

  4. Will I have to give up the things I enjoy like wine, crisps and chocolate? No! I want you to enjoy food and enjoy life! Nutritional Therapy is not just about eating kale! I may suggest reducing alcohol consumption if you drink heavily, I may suggest swapping crisps for something a little healthier and I would always suggest eating chocolate, just try to make it 70%+ dark chocolate! I will work with you to find foods you enjoy. Choosing to live 80% healthy : 20% slightly unhealthy means nothing is off limits.

  5. I’m not a good cook. Will the programme work for me? Personalised nutrition is just that, personalised. I work with you to help you find what you can do, what you can add in. I will help you find simple recipes that you can manage.

  6. Do you offer a free consultation or trial session? Your first 20 minute call with me is free, where we talk about your goals and whether or not my programme is a good fit for you.

  7. I’ve tried something like this before and it didn’t work. I’m sorry to hear you’ve tried to tackle this before and felt let down. Working with me is different from many other programmes on the market - I tailor everything specifically to you, so it’s not a one-size-fits-all plan to follow without help. I’d recommend you take up my offer of a free 20 minute chat to find out what didn’t work last time and see if my programme could be a better fit for you.

  8. I don’t like the sound of a DNA test. The DNA test I do is a nutrigenomics test carried out by Lifecode Gx. The test only identifies whether you need additional nutrients, it is not looking at disease. There is more information below on nutrigenetic testing.

  9. I want to do it, but can’t afford it. Personalised nutritional therapy comes at a cost, however your health is an investment and the benefits will last a lifetime. Is your health and feeling great a priority right now? I do offer a payment plan, so let’s talk about how to make it work for you.
